The Auburn family will take care of them for as long as needed, both financially, and emotionally. The kids will, understandably, struggle through this but they will be supported and loved. They will also be supported by people that aren't Auburn fans because this is how life down here works.
I'm confident that each school would do the same if the shoe was on the other foot.

Pierson that donated the $5k is a big donor...the courtside lounge in the AU Arena is named after him...
