(add another - haven't watched - don't do soap operas - cord cutter)

But to offer an answer: it's probably not near as high as it seems right now.

Will it go into syndication like a Friends, Mash, Gillian's Island, or I love Lucy? That would drive it to a more lasting status. Will it be eclipsed by another of it's own genre like South Park did to the Simpson's? That's my guess since it's struck gold - it's the standard for the moment - but the dollars will drive something more outlandish to market. Nature abhors a vacuum. However if it goes the route of movie trilogy (instead of sequels) it'll reap even far more hype, dollars, and create a much long lasting fame. (again from a non-viewer) - The let down ending seems almost a setup for such.

I sort of see it much like another "Breaking Bad" but with sex scenes, that will at least go box-set blu-ray like Weeds... and then fade with age (again if it doesn't go big screen). So I'll give it top ten rating at the moment, that could with the right legacy eventually push it up behind Star Trek, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and The Lord of the Rings (trilogy).

So between the 2 HBO dramas that everyone ranks as the most significant (this and sopranos)

Which would you say is greater?
