Conspiracy: With the advances in technology, the government is using its vast resources to track citizens.
The truth: In 2016, government agencies sent 49,868 requests for user data to Facebook, 27,850 to Google, and 9,076 to Apple, according to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (the EFF), a major nonprofit organisation that defends civil liberties in the digital world and advises the public on matters of internet privacy.

I was working with a major Mexican cellphone carrier who nonchalantly told me that they collect all data and sell it/give it to the government. (I'm not sure it's been said for a while but I teach English to major corporations here in Mexico City.) The element I was instructing was called "Big Data" and was responsible for not just compiling the information but also giving specific data to the government and other major corporations (including GPS locations and browser history).

Yes we did. Also read somewhere that the gov stores a lot of our data in terminals over seas to avoid certain laws here.
What are they gonna do with data that shows John searched for boobs and epic fail compilations? I don't know, but they think they need to know because that's gonna stop terrorism. Often when questioned by congress in relation to this stuff, DHS officials and FBI officials cant name any terrorist actions they've stopped via collecting everyones data. But they keep on collecting

The first step in regaining our freedom is to take out the US government GPS satellites. We get that done and it should limit the mobility of the federal government to not only track our location but to find us as they rarely leave their cubicles.
I propose we train a flight of attack monarch butterflies to assault the satellites directly.

They're all spying on us. Phones, Amazon, Facebook...Chicken probably is too.
