A few rare pics of the new south end zone from inside the stadium.

LINK

I have been watching the construction cam sine the very beginning. I usually check it at work 2-3 times a week. It has been an interesting project to watch unfold.

I was skeptical of the design at first, and through construction. But, with the video board structure going up now, I think that the new facility will look pretty good. I can't wait to see the project completed.

Still looks terrible to me. The south endzone should have ended up being more enclosed and really closing in the feel of the stadium for this renovation. The south is now less enclosed than it was before.

They botched it horribly.

Nah, going to look great when it’s finished and more importantly giving us the modern amenities that we’ve been lacking.

I would like them to put permanent seating in the North EZ. They can enclose that area at some point

Get rid of the bleachers and put seats in. it will reduce capacity but that doesn't really matter.

The locker rooms and facilities are great. They did fine with that. It is the stadium presence that they failed miserably on.

I get that they went cheap but I think it would have been better to wait a year or two and do it like some of the original plans had.

If for nothing else the lack of height is going to be terrible for allowing wind to go right down the field.

There are going to be Jumbotrons on top of it. It’s going to have a presence far superior to what it replaced

I disagree. The huge gaps in the corner completely deflate any hopes it has of having a positive presence to the environment.

We really are at the point that long term plans should include tear downs of the east and west side and plan for building a super nice two-deck 60k u-shaped seating stadium with chair backs for all and comfortable concourses with amenities. And then make the north end look amazing.

Will there be gaps, yes. Are the gaps going to be as big and bad as you're thinking they will be, no.

It should have never been about the seating capacity because we will never fill it, hence why everyone here agrees with slowly integrating seats into the stadium. This would have been the best time to do it.

I drive by it everyday and I was definitely underwhelmed but it's getting a little better, I guess. That's all I will say until it's finished.

It's a very needed and good improvement for sure. I wish it would have been taller to look more enclosed.

The gaps in the SE and SW corners should have had a jumbotron of their own, not one big one on top. ie. LSU's stadium. That really helps viewing from west or east stands.

Then in a about a year or two install a new ungraded giant jumbotron in the NEZ on top of a replica of the six Columns.

Someday move the Rock M just outside the stadium.

It's called "spending someone else's money."

Was at the game today. I’ll tell you that the complex in the South EZ has more presence in person than it does in pictures. Especially comparing to the old complex, it’s a big difference

It is not about what I think. look at the pics. The corners are about 1/2 to 2/3 as high as the previous south endzone and that didn't go high enough.

That is good to hear. When i walked around the site the SEZ facility was awesome from outside the stadium but was just non existent from the inside.

There's a shot of the south end zone complex from the north end at the 1:16:08 point of the telecast. Money well spent.

Once the masonry work is completed and the board is installed it's going to be awesome.

Yeah, it’s really pretty awesome. I’ve seen it from the outside at a few hoops games, but seeing it from inside the stadium (near completion)...it’s a great addition. I don’t understand the complaints

The complaints are mainly based in that the original plan was going to be something like the enclosed end at boone pickens stadium

it was supposed to help tie the east side and west side stands together with a nice tall elevation of windows going straight up for the offices and luxury suites.

The price was going to push the project back a couple years. They cheapened it and focused on player/staff amenities.

Is it terrible? by no means, NO! Is it an improvement? Yes! Is it good enough to show we are trying to compete in the SEC? Not really. We seem to just do things to get out of the bottom 1/3rd. We don't really attempt to do things like the top 1/3rd.

Other than softball. They did a great job with the softball stadium and built a top 10 national stadium which that program deserved.

The swimming facility was also done right but students helped pickup the tab on that.

What you are suggesting would have been a complete waste of concrete and would have resulted in more empty seats. adding a structure comparable to what is at the end of Boone Pickens on the available footprint would have pushed capacity back over 70k. Focusing on team amenities was absolutely the correct decision.

the stadium capacity is going to be about 65,000 when they finish the project and we won't even fill that. as was previously discussed they should tear out the bleachers and put in seats. if it reduces stadium capacity to 62K so be it. if the demand ever supports expansion, they need to redo the west side of the stadium anyway. Start there
