Holy shite. I didn't realize he was making that much.

Cal has in 10 years
1 title
1 national runner up
4 Final Fours
6 Elite 8s (if we win tonight it will be 7)
8 Sweet 16s

I was using Sand's method, but here's how Nolan would compare here.

1 title
1 national runner up
3 final fours
4 elite 8s
6 sweet 16s

All of these came within his first 10 years, so in about the same time frame as Calipari at Kentucky. Calipari has obviously accomplished a lot, but $9.28M is asking for scrutiny.

Coach K makes over $9M.

Edit: $8.89M

Chris Holttmann at Ohio St makes $7.2M and you don't even have him listed.

I think you may wanna fact check yourself.

Coaches were not making that back when Nolan was coaching...without looking, I bet Nolan was making about the same amount as Pitino during that time. If Nolan was coaching today with that resume, he would easily be paid over $6 million/year.

It is wild how much more Calipari makes than anybody else outside of Coach K. He makes 3-5 times as much as basically anybody else in the SEC.

My guess is he gets a raise if he wins 4 more this season.

I agree.

$9.28M still seems like a lot, though. I would think Coach K makes a lot because he's been at Duke forever and he at least has 2 national titles over the last 10 years. I would expect 3 or 4 for that type of money, even though I realize that's not reasonable. It's just that Saban IS doing the unreasonable in football and still makes less.

Can't believe we pay that for a 7 win coach.

That's misleading.

They pay cal that much, but he pockets only a percentage. The rest is what cal pays his players.

It took Nolan 17 years to do that for y’all. Cal has been at UK for 10.
