Interesting.

Speed limiting technology looks set to become mandatory for all vehicles sold in Europe from 2022, after new rules were provisionally agreed by the EU.
The Department for Transport said the system would also apply in the UK, despite Brexit.
Campaigners welcomed the move, saying it would save thousands of lives.

Pretty much every US state has a similar goal.

Yeah, the Brits behave as if they are in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean

I always laughed at the Dutch and Germans calling them Island monkeys
There's a stereotype from mainland Europeans that they're loud, obnoxious, drunk, & hot tempered. The only time I ever encountered them outside of The U.K in large numbers was in Amsterdam and some of the younger guys definitely fit the bill. They always made me laugh though.

No they don’t. Like it or not, there’s an optimal rate of road deaths. If you think that number is zero, then you have to ban cars.

Yes they do. Just look up Toward Zero Deaths and Vision Zero.
As of 2011-12, about 30 states have adopted some form of program to reduce traffic fatalities to zero. Many more have adopted programs since then. North Dakota joined in 2018, North Carolina joined in 2016, etc.
[link=(tzdva.org)]TZDVA.org[/link] is for Virginia. [link=(minnesotatzd.org)]MinnesotaTZD.org[/link] is for Minnesota.
I work for Alabama and we have a goal for zero deaths within 25 years.

Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) is a national safety strategy adopted in Mississippi to bring stakeholders together toward a common vision. That vision is a highway system free of fatalities through a sustained decline in transportation-related deaths and injuries.

Zero deaths on highways should be the goal for Mississippi. Help us drive Mississippi toward zero deaths.
MDOT has adopted the Toward Zero Deaths vision as a part of its highway safety plan. Many MDOT projects include safety implementations that help reduce the number of fatal crashes on our roadways.
That's straight from Mississippi's website.
