I’d more so say he played finesse. Derrick Henry did so early on at Alabama. Which, he did the same in high school because he was the best athlete every time he stepped on the field.

Being soft if a mindset, IMO.

Joiner is one of the best athletes on the field. Nice of him of him to take it easy on a bunch of white boy mountain brook kids

It's probably unfair to call him "soft"

But he absolutely was not a physical runner in high school despite being the largest man on the field most of the time. It's why AU & others initially tried to recruit him as an athlete & sell him on idea of playing more at WR. He balked at first because he saw himself as a bellcow tailback.

LSU sold him on idea that he was going to be that for them up until they landed like 3 RBs within a week & dropped all communication with him. After that experience, he became more amendable to idea of doing more than just playing RB & AU adjusted their pitch to him being another Charles Clay where he would still get to run the ball but also play outside. That seems to be how they are using him right now

But again, I was very excited to see him lower his shoulder & initiate contact Saturday. He learns to use that frame of his as a weapon and doesn't shy away from contact then he's got a chance to be a big time player for AU. I'm not expecting him to have a major role in the offense this year outside of some gadget stuff but I would love to be wrong. He's got a unique skillset that could make him a matchup nightmare
