FWIW, this actually meshes up pretty well with what was coming out of the state of Mississippi from non Bama sources around the time that he signed as well... Originally the figure that was bandied about was a smaller sum of money and a car (about 80k value). Now seeing some chatter that it was much larger number, but still less than Bama paid for Sanders or Auburn paid for Pappoe... so make of that what you will.

Out of curiosity....wasn't Dean's parents doctors or lawyers or something? If so, I can't imagine them risking their son's future for a car repair, or a car, for that matter. Maybe I am remembering wrong?

Here’s some fun quotes from the Beck commitment.

quote:

“So I had obviously named Florida my leader and I kind of just put that out there to say like ‘Hey this is the team that is coming at me the hardest. This is the team where I feel like I could see myself at’ but also I had two schools kind of like in the back of my head – one of those being Georgia – where if I got that offer I would pause for a second and say ‘OK, hold on. I got to kind of take this in.’” “So I visited up there and it was absolutely awesome and everything that I expected.”

What a nut punch to Florida fans.

As I said... Make of it what you will. I agree, it would seem odd and largely unnecessary as I do seen to remember that at least his mother is a physician. Mostly was pointing out that this isn't the first time that rough accusation has come up...

If they're referring to actual car repairs on the other hand, I'm not buying it at all... No way a parent with their education allowed their kid to risk eligibility over a car repair bill (couple of thousand bucks tops).
