Nashville is an awesome city. Memphis is a terrible city. I think we can all agree on that.

I loved growing up in Nashville. I could go on all day about what is so great about Nashville, but I'll do you and other board members a favor and save my breath. However, I like Memphis a whole lot. I have a lot of wonderful memories in that city.

It's not as blighted as it was ten years ago. I have hope for its future. There is a lot of development going on in the Memphis metro area.

To the other Vol posters, sorry to rag on East Tennessee. But let's be honest, Nashville and Memphis do the heavy lifting for the state. Thankfully, Knoxville and Chattanooga are booming, which is what I like to see. I have really come to like Knoxville since I have been living here. There is a lot of growth here, and the city itself is surprisingly hip.

I stand by my claim that the worst areas in Tennessee are in East Tennessee. The Upper Plateau near the Kentucky border as well as areas like Newport are awful. Those places aren't coming back.

Pretty fair assessment imo. Knoxville and Chatt are significantly behind Nashville and Memphis, but both cities continue to grow their city/metro populations and have been & continue to increase their value, brand and perception in a big way. I'm excited about the next 5 years in Knoxville with the progress they've made with The South Knox waterfront & again with the Smokies coming back to the city (date tbd) and having the new baseball stadium built in the Old City when that does happen. That's gonna be huge for that part of downtown. Anyways, Tennessee in general is a great state with nice cities spread out from Memphis to up in the Smokies. Definitely feel blessed to live here

Ok head directly south of Nashville or in any direction from Memphis and you will see bumfrick Alabama. Tri-cities are 10x better than that and that’s saying something.

And Chattanooga is the best city in Tennessee for its size.
