What is your favorite U.S. state, not including your own?

I'm from Tennessee, and I have visited 31 American states, from CA to ME.
My favorites are both Carolinas. I love visiting those two states more than any others, and I have had my best vacations there as well. Beautiful mountains in the west, great beaches in the east, and wonderful people in between. Great food, history, and culture. Charlotte is an awesome up-and-coming city, and I don't think the history rooted in Charleston can be matched by any other American city (maybe Boston).
Runners up: New Mexico and Vermont. Beautiful scenery, nice people.
Do you have a least favorite state? Personally, I have never hated any U.S. state I have visited. I do find much of Alabama to be depressing, but that's probably from driving on the highways in southern AL to get to FL. I also didn't care for Connecticut because that state is boring AF. I swear there is nothing to do in CT except drive to NYC or Boston.

Side comment, I have to say that California is the most overrated state. The people there are just plain weird, and it takes hours to travel anywhere to do anything remotely interesting. If you desire fancy shopping malls and tall palm trees, it's the place for you, but that's not what I value in a place. The only thing keeping me from saying it is my least favorite state is the multitude of cultures, cool architecture, and good food.

Indiana. Yeah it's my birth state but I'm counting it.
I've been to 11 states. I did enjoy Florida quite a bit for the beach as well as NASA.
Don't know if I have a least favorite state but people from Ohio can be odd

My own state is pretty far down the list.

Texas, but that would probably change if I ever visit a place like South Dakota.

Maybe if you're starting in the middle of nowhere.

I count 31 as well that I have lived or visited. I can't give you a state per say, but I have always loved the mountains, so somewhere in the Rockies or Smokies would do me fine.

I think I've been to 18 states, btw.

I'm from California and absolutely love it outside of the people. I'll say Tennessee as I'm not originally from here with Texas being a close 2nd.

Not sure I have a favorite. Several I really like - North Carolina, Montana, California, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Colorado.
Least favorite I guess is Mississippi. Really can't think of one redeeming quality of that state, though I've met some nice people from there.

From SC - have visited 36 states. My uncle lived in San Luis Obispo, CA for about 15 years, so we used to visit frequently. As a whole, California would have to be my favorite state. Love San Diego, love Napa, love Yosemite, love the redwoods of the northern part of the state.
The people there aren't that great, but the diverse scenery is second to none.
Montana is also awesome, FWIW.

They're just a different breed. I have a gay cousin that lives in Malibu, and it's a bit of a culture shock the times I've been out there to visit him. I'm sure he and his husband experience the same when they come to Alabama to visit.
