Gotta give the rock to Najee and B Rob. I know we have other backs coming in that can contribute but I really feel those two should get the bulk of the carries...they've waited long enough. Feed them. We need to get back to pounding the ball then play action pass.

Running the ball has no impact on the effectiveness of play action passing. In fact play action passing is incredibly efficient with or without the credible threat of a run game. There are multiple articles now showing the research behind this. Running the ball more then 45-47% of plays is a less efficient, fools game called for by relics of the past who haven't caught up to the reality of modern football.

With all due respect Tider95, I do not, cannot agree with that argument. Football has been played for 150 years now and the team that can consistently stop the run and run the ball themselves has an overwhelming advantage. I dunno, maybe the recent rule changes have tilted the game that much in favor of passing and I'm just not getting it. I think the modern game and passing has helped level the playing field for all teams and it helps less talented teams compete with more talented ones, but I will go to my grave believing that rush defense and a dependable rushing attack are a solid foundation for winning football. And I don't give a damn about research, I don't think you can boil football down to statistics and algorithms. I humbly submit that given 2 teams of equal talent, if you chose your offense and I chose mine, I'd whip your arse with a ground and pound game. And if you don't think that's true, I submit Army vs Oklahoma 2018 for you to ponder.

There is also plenty of football analytics that show number of passes per game is irrelevant and the most important metric is yards per pass attempt.

Not doubting the accuracy of the statement that you have read articles. Only saying we can probably find stats, analytics, that will tell any of us what we want to hear.

Sorta of like the HS coach that never punts because of stats...at some point it makes sense to punt. Also the Oakland A's example...their analytics worked well for the course of a long season but in a smaller sample size, i.e. series or 1 game you cant count on the law of averages.
