On this day in history:
January 16th, 1944,
Gen. Dwight Eisenhower assumes command of SHAEF (Supreme Headquarters, Allied Expeditionary Forces) in London. Japanese make final counterattack on New Britain in the Solomons, but fail.
While he was never a cadet at LSU, Troy Middleton (who graduated from nearby Mississippi State University and was com-missioned in the Army) added to the military lore of LSU where, before the war, he had served as Commandant of Cadets from 1930-36. Earlier, as an instructor at the Command and General Staff College, he had taught Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Yeah I remember my grandpa smoked Lucky Strike unfiltered, he was a kid during WW2 though. I think he did smoke at a young age iirc.

Fwiw I remember around 2005 Marlboro sold 25 packs for awhile. And yes I know a standard pack is 20 haha - just to make that clear.
