May start a topic on this, but with the way the world is in 2019, why would a kid ever sign in the early signing period?
coaches are still coming and going, and we are a month past the original signing day (or around a month). the USC WRs who signed to play for Kliff....gotta be pissed.
Just seems like if you're a good player who isn't necessarily the #1 guy in your class, you should wait, see what schools have glaring holes (like OSU needs OTs badly), then you could get early PT.

You make a great point but early playing time isn't the only reason players commit to a school. Otherwise Bama wouldn't always be at the top. There are a multitude of reasons to commit early. Even if your position coach goes elsewhere.
1) You grew up loving the school and want to help recruit
2) The school has academic advantages
3) You want the circus to end (Non stop calling, etc.)
4) You want to enroll early
And there are more reasons. I agree there are many reasons to hold off, but the early signing period is an advantage to many.

I dunno about PT, but as a roster spot I agree.
I said this exact thing, specific to 2nd tier DL. Too much competition at most other positions, but given the natural scarcity of pass rushers and true DTs they will always be in demand.
Once Auburn, LSU, UF, UT, etc miss on the top of the list, a guy who might have otherwise gone to Ole Miss or UCF can pick up a much better offer.
