Highlights of the weekend
1. Raby and Eder had the best pitching appearances on staff. Rocker is going to get at least one more start to see if he settles, but Hickman/Eder show the control to bump him from the Sunday role. Zach King could also come in and start Sunday, but I like him as a mid-inning reliever who can lock down an offense for 2-3 innings.
2. The offense looks damn good, Sunday notwithstanding. Sad to see Infante has not learned how to handle the breaking ball, so I hope not to see him too much. Gonzales had similar problems, but he showed an ability to hit for average this weekend. Let's hope that continues. Also, once DeMarco gets hot, this offense will be unstoppable.
3. That defense tho. I expect to see a lot more jitters in opening weekend, so I was pleased to see only two errors on the stat sheet.
4. Cooper Davis is a speedster, and I love it.

Vandy's pitching made the ouch list this week

quote:
– Vanderbilt Pitching What Happened: Gave up 28 runs in three games. Why It Hurts: This is a mound corps everyone is expecting to be one of the best in the country. As Aaron Fitt wrote in his preseason write-up of the Commodores pitching, “Vanderbilt is absurdly deep on the mound.” So it was really weird to see the Anchor Down boys give up 28 runs and 32 hits while walking 17 and plunking four this weekend. Don’t freak out Dores fans, we realize they played high-quality teams in Virginia, Fullerton and TCU and still won two out of three. It was just weird to see them give up football scores all weekend. I’m confident these things won’t last long.
