Fake FG vs. Fake Punt

Both of them were reasonable and logical calls imo.

For Bama, the momentum shift was getting out of hand, and so it’s reasonable to try and flip it. Especially when your kicker wasn’t going to make the FG anyway. So why not?

Saban did same risky thing with the onside kick in Bama/Clemson part 1 too. And it worked to perfection.

The shocking part this time though was just how terrible the execution was. Just like Kirby’s fake punt. Just dead from the start.

At least Saban didn’t have Tua or Jalen in there to make it extra extra obvious.

I made this exact comment to a friend last night.

Clemson was ready for some kind of fake. Why every coach doesn't work his kicker/holder and punter on passing during practice is beyond me. 10 minutes each practice, and lots of free time during summer before camp for guys to do this on their own time. Hot Rod almost pulled it off against LSU. That might have sparked a comeback.
