That doesn't sound like ethical treatment.
PETA is infamous for killing most of the animals they take in. At a much higher rate then most animal shelters I might add. They are quite an odd little band of weirdos.

They also apparently want animals that are born into captivity released into the wild to die instead of being cared for by a team of world class vets and facilities nicer than most humans live in
