Right now Texas doesn't want any part of A&M. That will eventually change because A&M is sitting pretty.

Texas has to go out of the Big 12 to get football games that people will watch. Otherwise they are stuck with the one game against Oklahoma. A&M has one big OOC game a year and then probably 3-4 big games in the SEC. Including ending the season with marque match up against LSU. Texas ended their season this year with Kansas.

To paraphrase a line "the eyes of Texas are upon A&M." Big time recruits want to play in big time games. Right now you've got a better shot of doing that at A&M.
