There was nothing to waste.
OU’s problem isn’t coaching, it’s that the SEC is signing all the really good defensive talent in Texas that would have gone to OU ten years ago. They are doing the best they can do with the talent they have.
Unless they hire a guy who can push their recruiting to be completely national and they can start to pull in five stars from other regions they have a solid glass ceiling hanging over their program thanks to A&M exposing the state of Texas to the SEC.
Hence the intense SEC envy we see here, they know it deep down.

This is what happened to Nebraska. All of these schools coming from the Midwest to steal Texas football talent are dropping like flies.
Oklahoma is the new Nebraska. Land thieves only chance is to join the SEC and that is not happening
