Should Army join the Big 12?

They played Oklahoma close, but get blown out by every other power 5 school they play. Sounds like a good fit to me.

Why are there so many threads about Army and OU on the SEC Rant that don't relate to them playing an SEC team?

There is an appropriate board to place this thread. This isn't it.

Absolutely not. Why would the U.S. Military Academy associate themselves with a conference in which 7 of the 10 current members are academically inferior to them?
If Army joins a Power 5, it'll be the ACC, which is geographically and academically compatible.
Of course they'd get demolished in almost every sport at first which is why they won't.
Fun fact: Army is one of 3 Division 1 teams to NEVER make the NCAA Basketball tournament and the only FBS school never to make it.

They play too much defense at Army for the Big 12

That would include most P5 Conferences including the SEC.

Because most of the time they were not in a Conference and when they were in it, it was a one bid conference.

They could obviously compete.

They should’ve invited UCFast!

It would open up a big TV market for them.

Army would pound Auburn and that crappy offense it wouldn’t be close. 51-14

I think so, quickest path to the vaunted SEC for a mediocre team is via the B12.

No, SEC teams are used to playing teams that can not pass the ball.

Bad fit: they won't take orders from Texas like the rest of the current conference.

Not sure about army but the Houston defense screams Big 12.

UCF has not played their way in to the CFP. (I wish it were an8 team format with a guarantee to the top G5 team assuming they are ranked highly enough. )
What they have done is played their way in, and generate enough support in a huge market to attract a P5 invite.

1. 66K students
2. Orlando, Florida TV Market
3. Top 5 Recruiting area
P5 Conferences can try to steal from other P5 Conferences, but at some point their isn't a zero sum gain for the P5 Schools. They have to create schools from the non-P5 Conferences. Florida is the first place to look.
