Spurrier quit doing half his job right after he got Lattimore and then Clowney the next year. Once he thought he had enough talent to win big, he quit putting in effort in recruiting, and pretty much left it to assistants.
He hated recruiting to start with, as we all know, but if he'd still been going to do the cha-cha with recruits moms and such when we were finishing in the top 10 every year as a drawing card, we'd be much closer to where Clemson is now than where we ended up.
He did a lot of great things for the school, but he didn't give us his full effort the last few years, and it showed on the field for years.

Right. Y'all had enough talent to coast for a few years and then went off the tracks in a big way. Spurrier did the next coach no favors.

We should have let him retire the season before like he wanted to. He told the ad he was done and our AD got Jeri involved and she convinced him to stay. Her reasoning to him was there would never be another chance to have all the kids and grandkids together and it worked.
