Nothing we don't already know, but straight from the horse's mouth:

Would've put in the frickery thread, but still need to figure out why that got whacked.
quote:
“I didn’t leave South Carolina because I disliked coaching. I left because we had a mess of a team, and I was the head coach and I created it and made a bunch of mistakes,” Spurrier said, per Graham Hall of The Gainesville Sun. “Players didn’t like each other, coaches didn’t like each other, and it was time for me to get out of there.
“No one wants to leave under those circumstances, but that’s the way it happened.”

It just disappoints the hell out of me that he knows full well he created the problems and instead of doing the right thing and staying around to at least give a REAL attempt at fixing it, he just walked away and left us with a smoking pile of embers bc the program had already burned to the ground. Just walked away and left it for someone else to deal with while he stayed for a good bit of time in the position of "ambassador" at Carolina.
I lost a ton of respect for him and I will never regain that respect for him. To me, it showed exactly who he really is. A person's true character often is not seen until they are placed in a particularly stressful, difficult situation...the way they handle it speaks volumes. Do they rise to the occasion or tuck tail and haul arse? We all know which of the two he did.

Makes me respect and appreciate Coach Elliot even more, knowing that he took one for the team. He knew what was going on with players and coaches, yet he tried to rally the troops for one last run.
