It takes real game experience to master a read option and he just doesn’t get the opportunities necessary to be great at it. He’s running Stidham’s offense because he’s the only backup. Our offense isn’t practicing two offenses every week
And I don’t think Gus going back to it anyway so I’m not sure any of this matters.
I thought there was an article a while back where Gus said he only had a few plays? If this is correct then how hard can it be to run it? If not then I guess we can give Malik a pass.

Because he also sucks at eval'ing QBs out of high school. Examples: Kodi Burns, Kiehl Frazier, Jeremy Johnson, etc.

Because he has to read a defense and a defense can do a thousand different things once they line up. And the defense is being directed by an old man in a box above the field. So in a true read offense, it’s not offensive coordinator against defensive coordinator. It’s 20 year old QB against defensive coordinator. And if you’re Malik, running on to the field on 3rd and 4 or at the goal line the defensive coordinator can control for a lot less.

He did have that one nice pass and some good runs but I've not seen anything else to give me hope Malik will be able to do that.

Anybody thinking they have enough data to think Malik sucks is just wrong. Not guaranteeing he will be good by any means but to suggest he sucks based on a couple of plays in blowouts is deranged.

Took this board over a year to figure out that Kyle Frazier sucked big time. I kept telling yall and you assholes would call me a douche.

I’ve yet to see Malik slow down enough to make the right read on the ZR much less go through pass progressions to make me think he can improve at a much higher pace than what he’s improved so far. He’s balls to the wall every snap like he’s already got the plan of what’s going to happen before the snap is even delivered.
How do you know he was running the zone read instead of a designed qb run?

Don’t know but some of his runs ( like the one that went for a safety) had an option available and he didn’t read it.
Plus we’ve seen Malzahn crawl his arse. We could see Malzahn say “How’s that happen!” to Willis after the play. After the game Malzahn called it a greedy play.

Because no one ever even attempted to block the DE.

I'd suspect most wouldn't have been to excited about Nick for many reasons. His passing game was just chuck it up and see what happens at JUCO.
I tend to assume they won't be successful at this level until they show they are successful, but Malik with his athletic ability could win Auburn 7-8 games IMO. Of course Sean White could do that and Stidham. Auburn needs more from that position to be competitive at the next level of wins.

I don't normally agree with anything you say, but you're on point here. Malik and Liberty killing it under Freezus

Malik found a great fit for his talent. He has very little experience playing QB and I’m extremely happy for him. He is a great kid and is balling this season.
I hope they go undefeated.

It's best to reserve judgment on QBs playing under Malzahn. Hell, it's simply not fair to judge any QB under Malzahn's coaching in my opinion. Hopefully most Auburn fans have figured that out as the same goes for Bo too. Malzahn destroys QBs, flat out destroys them. I'd like to see what Bo could do under a new coach. Maybe he still sucks, I don't know, but at least we'd know.
