Vanderbilt would be middle of the pack talent wise in the The big 12.

Vanderbilt has higher academic standards for athletes and after Franklin's fiasco with the rape cases there hasn't been many exemptions made.

The average big 12 team has 12 active NFL players. That would put Vanderbilt directly in the middle of the pack.

Yeah, eventually they'll win, but they're just perpetually bad when it comes to the post-season.

Oklahoma/Georgia was the game of the year last season and nothing else came close.

You could say the same about ND>
Weak competition, easy scheduling, 0 losses till playoffs and meeting up with any SEC school

Herbstreit said after Georgia’s performance (albeit a loss) versus mighty Bama, he would have moved the Dawgs up from #4 to #3 - then you would have

Clemson(2) vs UGA(3)
Bama(1) vs Notre Dame(4)

I know the rest of earth would scream bloody murder and Big 10 and Big 12 mutiny but that would be the four best - or at least the three best plus an undefeated that played a decent schedule.

As to the seeding, it effectively gives Bama a first round bye and Clemson has to fend off a physical Georgia team and that game would be a coin flip.
