...Worse than all of these. Even more than the NC last year, because at least with that--we had the Rose Bowl.--But with this one, we will hurt for a long time

Somehow this one is more painful than the NC. I think you are correct that the hard part of this one is that we have nothing to show for the season.

It honestly isn’t that high for me, no one picked us to win if even compete in this game. We came out and stuck it to Bama for 3 quarters and just let it slip away. I’m proud of the way the team played and proud we should’ve won it.

It's more painful because of the stupidity of the fake punt. In the NCG we simply got beat by a hot QB who made a perfect pass in the clutch in OT.
I don't know how we would have faired in OT this time we should have punted to have that opportunity.

I felt like the National championship game was way worse partially because we weren’t such a young team but also because the officiating was so bad. This time I felt like we were just super young and banged up. Also don’t have the what if feeling due to the officiating this time.

The 3 tight championship games with bama:
1. NC game first- the sack on first down to make it 2 and 26 with their kicker just missing at the end of regulation to then blow the coverage was sudden...
2. 2012 game- played gritty against a better team and was the the doorstep and lost on flukely play. Bama burying ND adds to the missed opportunity.
3. This year- this game was more frustrating that painful because my expectations were less and I was proud of how the boys played ... fantastic growth this season...the missed fg was big momentum wise, so was coming up half a yard short on the next possession after the pick on the subsequent bama possession.
