1978- UGA 22 Auburn 22. UGA lost only twice this season and finished in the top 15 while Auburn barely rose about .500, however the Tigers busted out the seldom worn orange jerseys and played UGA to a tie on the plains. Supposedly the first color photos of AU in the orange tops:
1986- UGA 20 AU 16. Georgia secured win on the plains and jubilant fans rushed the field. AU personnel doused the fans with hoses, then turned them into the stands. The infamous "game between the hoses"
1992 UGA 14 AU 10. AU had a late drive but when Stan White tried a keep at the goal line and didn't get it, UGA players remained on the ground. Refs couldn't get the ball lined up in time and time ran out for AU.
1996 UGA 56 AU 49. The first OT game in SEC history went for 4 periods, and included a 2nd half comeback by UGA and Mike Bobo hitting corey allen on a bomb in the last play of regulation to send it to OT.
2000 AU 29 UGA 26. Not as thrilling as 1996, but it was the 2nd OT game in the series and featured Rudi Johnson plunging in late for the win.
2001 AU 24 UGA 17. Richt's first DSOR, UGA had the ball on the goal line late but after a run with no timeouts left the clock ran out. Shades of 1992. Richt tries to line up but time runs out.
2002 UGA 24 AU 21. UGA's first east title.
2003 UGA 26 AU 7. Game was never in doubt, UGA wins 2nd straight east title.
2004 AU 24 UGA 6. Auburn dominates on the way to an undefeated season.
2005 AU 31 UGA 30. DJ Shockley's return from injury. Back and forth the whole way, AU capitalizes on a safety miscue on 4th down for a long gain and a game winning FG.
2006 UGA 37 AU 15. #5 Auburn still had title hopes while hapless UGA came in losers of 4 of their last 5. Brandon Cox completed as many passes to UGA DBs as AU WRs.
2007 UGA 45 AU 20. AU kept it close for a half but ultimately couldn't keep up. One of the crazier atmospheres in Sanford ever.
2009 UGA 31 AU 24. Close game that wasn't decided until AU's last effort of the game fell short, helped by a jarring hit by Bacarri Rambo on a receiver that would've scored the tying touchdown.
2010 AU 49 UGA 31. Heavy underdog UGA kept it close for about 3 quarters but in the end Cam was too much as AU would continue towards an undefeated and national title season.
2011 UGA 45 AU 7. UGA got payback on a bad auburn squad.
2012 UGA 38 AU 0. This could have been much worse.
2013 featured an AU team that would go on to win the SEC and play for the national title against an underwhelming UGA team. AU would storm out to a huge lead, then see it disappear on the gargantuan effort of aaron murray, only to recapture the lead in the final minute.
2014 UGA 34 AU 7 A pretty good UGA looked for revenge against an alright AU team, and they got it in spades. AU would race to a 7-0 lead on their first possession and not score again.

2015 UGA 20 Auburn 13. AU would score on their first possession.Just before the 4th quarter UGA would score to tie it at 10, before Isaiah Mckenzie took a punt back for a TD early in the 4th to go ahead 17-10.
2016 UGA 13 Auburn 7. For the 3rd year in a row, Auburn (#9 this contest) would jump to a 7-0 lead and not find the end zone again. Bama transfer Mo Smith saves the day in Kirby's first DSOR.
2017 AU 40 UGA 17 UGA entered this game 2nd in the country (and 1st in the playoff rankings) but looked completely overmatched most of the day. Not a lot went right while AU was firing on all cylinders. A sorta close game near 1.5 quarters turned into a blowout to give AU its first of two wins over #1 ranked teams in 3 weeks ending the season.
2017 UGA 28 AU 7 (SEC Championship) For the first time, one of the league’s permanent inter-division rivalries would meet again in the SECCG. UGA was whooped at the LOS in the regular season meeting just weeks earlier, but UGA’s offensive game plan and a shuffled OL roster helped even that up. UGA decided to attack the outside and pass more on early downs which softened up AU’s defense a bit, and the defense shut down AU’s run game. UGA would win the rematch and go on to win its 13th SEC title, good for 2nd most in league history.

Fumbled the ball through the endzone prior to field goal. Probably the most intense game in the last 20 years or so

The recent dominance of UGA over AU is pretty incredible.
Edit : mean to put recent.

Yeah. A whole 2 games
its one game, one of those ties is a win, per the conference at the time, both schools, the news, etc...

quote:Legit one of the scariest moments I have witnessed in person was Junior Rosegreen's hit on Reggie Brown. Thought the kid might have been dead. These days it would have been a targeting call, and maybe should have been a penalty then. Rosegreen was amped up, his 99 year old grandmother passed away the day before, and UGA had been had been going after Carlos Rogers all week, and then came down to the AU end of the field to trash talk at the start of warm-ups.
2004 AU 24 UGA 6. Auburn dominates on the way to an undefeated season.
The only scarier incident I have witnessed in person was Zac Etheridge getting hurt against Ole Miss in 2009.

122 meetings and only a couple games separate each other. That has to be the closest rivalry of all time, right..? with minimum 120 games?

Not sure what the point differential is now, but a few years ago it was almost even as well

With the way things are looking now, Georgia will probably win the next 5 or so

I don’t even want to think about his whining that must have happened after this.

Took my best friend from North Carolina to this game. He was loosely a NC State fan. Never been a UGA game let alone a SEC game. Changed his life, he’s been all Dawgs ever since. We lost but what a game to experience for your first time
