Can those of you who have ditched cable help a guy out?

So I am tired of paying xfinity over two hundred bucks per month for internet and cable. I want to just stream the few channels I do watch and of course watch SEC network, CBS and ESPN. What do I need to do to get this rolling. I will buy roku first if needed. Can you point me in the right direction please? Tia.

We use Apple TV and a digital antenna for CBS (we only watch college football on it). Then subscribe to Sling with the ESPN package and then swap out to HBO package after football season. We also subscribe to Netflix and Hulu and have Amazon Prime.
Of course, you have to pay for high speed Xfinity internet, unless AT&T or another provider has high speed fiber optic in your area.
Also, if family members have DirectTV or Comcast, you can use their credentials and log into Hulu, Netflix and ESPN apps.
We save over $100/month from our old Xfinity package. I believe Roku is about the same as Apple TV, so you can go either route there, probably.

I had Sling for a couple of years then came across Playstation Vue and never went back. Have everything they offer and pay about $75 a month.

Look at Hulu. I have that service and the local channels are included. DVR service and all the espn channels. Win win

I'm going to be doing this in another year. Building a house and we will have ATT fiber. I haven'r really researched yet, but currently have Dish Network, and would like to move to something else probably, maybe direct since I would get a discount with aTT.

YouTube TV via Roku has been great. A little delayed in comparison to regular but not bad. just need a good wifi connection.
I watched the local channels (ABC, NBC, CBS, etc.). I can get ESPN/ESPN2/FS/FS1 and also the specialty networks (BTN, SECN) as well.

First thing you need to do is go to this website - www.suppose.tv
It aggregates all the satellite and streaming services and the channels they offer. For streaming, what works in one place may not work in every place because not all locals are offered by every service in every market. On that site, you enter your zip code, then click and drag the channels you want in your service and it lists out which ones are best for you.
All the streaming sites also offer a one-week free trial to test them out. DirecTVNOW also has promotions regularly for a free Roku Stick or Apple TV if you pre-pay a certain number of months. I like YouTubeTV and DirecTVNow best, in that order.

I was fortunate to lock in for life with AT&T at $70/month for 1 Gb internet.
One thing to look for with any streaming service is how many devices at one time can you use. Some will limit you to 2 or 3 at one time.
I went with Play station Vue (should really be called Sony TV, no play station is needed) because I can use up to 5 devices at one time

We do SlingTV with a couple of packages added on. Under $60 per month and we’re very happy.
We waited until we got fiber optic installed at the farm house btw.
Your bandwidth speed is very important especially if multiple TVs will be in use while you’re watching along with tablets, phones, etc.
