Yep, it was. They just also played with the knowledge that if the play dragged the odds we're high it wouldn't matter if the OL was downfield.
And they definitely kept it in their pocket for shot plays.

Them are pretty much every other team in the nation. If the NCAA changes the rules of football not allowing the QB to throw a forward pass.. would you blame teams for running the ball all the time?
That's the point, I don't think Saban wants to run this kind of offense and he certainly is tired of having to defend against it. But he understands that if he doesn't do this then his team is at a disadvantage.
You have to give him a lot of credit, he is willing to adjust to what the NCAA is doing and win... compare that to Fat Bret who kept trying to play 1980's football.
