We're going to try to run the ball against them ... not sure if we we'll be successful, but they sure worked it hard during the off week.

Rooster - UT is 90th in the country in pass defense. I think we need a healthy amount of passing (assuming receivers catch the ball).

That being said, what is your opinion of Scarnecchia's play? After watching how poised he was in the Mizzou game and how quickly he made decisions in the pocket, I'm shocked at the narrative that has existed about him for these past few years. I had heard people who supposedly know some football and who have contacts on the staff say for the past two years that "SC cannot win an SEC game with Scarnecchia at qb".

Well that statement was obviously completely incorrect and in the Mizzou game Scarnecchia outplayed the qb on the other side of the field who is supposedly a potential 1st round draft pick. Scarnecchia also took us on a game winning 1 minute drive and those rarely happen for SC.

Add to the above that I was listening to Eric Kimrey's podcast after the Mizzou game and he had Ellis Johnson as a guest, and EJ said of Scarnecchia "He can make all the throws. In fact, at practice you don't know which qb is running the play until he turns sideways and you see the number".

So if Scarnecchia makes all the throws at practice and in an SEC game he can look great and have a game winning drive, how is it this kid was made out to be chopped liver in the media and on message boards for 2-3 years? That's so unfair to him and just seems nuts given what we've seen and are now hearing about him.

I understand why Scarnecchia didn't play under the previous staff as he was only a freshman and redshirt freshman. But for him to not have gotten more playing time under this staff, given what we saw of him against Mizzou, I'm only left with some ideas that seem to indicate Scarnecchia is not being treated equally since he's not a Muschamp recruit and he's not the running back coach's son.

One more comment about why I am thinking this.......
After Bentley's horrid 1st quarter against TAMU capped by a terrible interception in the endzone, is there any doubt our previous coach would have made a change and put in Scarnecchia, especially after how well Scarnecchia played in the previous game? We know Spurrier would have made a change and not thought twice about it. But instead, Muschamp said in the post game press conference after TAMU that he "never considered" making a qb change. How is that possible when every fan in the stadium wanted him to make a change at that point?

Scarnecchia will play this weekend.

He should have been playing more all along.

I agree that UT's pass defense is suspect but I can promise you, they are dead set on trying to establish the run this weekend. They have been stressing the running game and making tweaks to the running game during this entire off week break.

Special Teams is going to be big time critical aspect of the game this weekend ... we gotta win that portion in particular although the other two thirds are obviously important. Special Teams though, it'll set up the rest of our gameplan this weekend. They've been working on it like crazy. Win the battle of field position.
