It was very different. Not one 2016 positional group was close to as good as the 2017 or 2018 ones.
The players were essentially the same, were they not?
There were a lot of factors that made those positional groups better. Experience. Coaches. The QB being able to hit open receivers instead of overthrowing them. A lot of the problems Eason had were of his own making.
Of course, if you want to make the excuse that Eason should get a pass, then you should be giving Fromm a pass as well this year. You can't have it both ways. Fromm is playing with a group of inexperienced players in different positions. he lost 6 players that are on NFL rosters this year, including 2 first rounders, and one early second.

Essentially the same?
OL: We replaced 3 senior OL with better OL.
WR: Our best wr went from a 5’7 punt returner to a 6’4 jump baller. Hardman was on defense. Chigbu and Stanley were dropping passes all over.
RB: Nick Chubb was only a year removed from his injury. Swift was in high school.
Strategy: It involved much more passing. 53 attempts vs mizzou?
