I have seen the QB take a snap, garbage time at Ohio State be darned. Etling was a manager, but Burrow is a talent. He may or may not pan out, but the indication is that he will. Thus, trending upward.
No doubt we have little experience at RB. But we have Giles at WR with plenty of experience, as well as Foster Moreau who is an experienced tight end who will feature in the passing game. We also have other receivers who, again if they pan out as expected, are as talented as they come and should be something to watch. Just because not all have played yet doesn’t mean they shouldn’t play well.
We did have the number one Juco transfer come in at tackle. But there was not a swath of incoming OL talent because there was not a lot of talent that left. I think all of our OL has now started or at least seen significant game experience now. They gelled by the end of last season, and we still have some youth but now it’s experienced. No doubt the OL is trending up.
Plus, our notoriously poor offense no longer exists, scheme-wise. We have a coach that won’t lie to us about the offense and our receivers are our strength. We’ll be passing for once, and we have the playmakers to do it.
I don’t know how you’re supposed to play a snap of football before the first game, but that doesn’t mean it’s not all trending up. It could all crash and burn. Or soar. But right now, we’re looking up. Thus, trending up. We gotta play the games now, but so does everyone else.
