I just paid a babysitter $35 for two hours. Is that about right, high or low? She works at the kids’ daycare and doesn’t make that much an hour working there.

About right. Between 15-17$ an hour is average for a babysitter

Thanks that’s good to know. I beat my wife home from our daughters ball game and was second guessing myself on the pay.

A lot of young men have gone to prison with an answer like that.

If she is verified college age, we gonna need some pics to establish the pay rate.

We do 10/hr but round on the last hour if we come home early. 2 kids (3&7), both girl babysitters we let drive our vehicles and use our debit card. I think that is pretty reasonable.

I learned everything I need to know about paying babysitters from PH. Just make sure they're satisfied before they leave.

I have no kids.

It depends on lots of factors.

How old are the kids? The younger they are, the more you pay.

How many kids? The more there are, the more you pay.

How old is the sitter? The older she is, the more you pay because she can drive them places.

What are you asking her to do? The more you ask, the more you pay.

My daughter was routinely asked to pick kids up from school, tutor them for homework, get them bathed, and get them fed before a working mother came home from a long day at work. She was not doing that for 10-15 bucks an hour. She charged $25 an hour.

We usually only get a baby sitter if wife and I want to go out on a Friday or Saturday. Most of the time the kids are with us. We don't have them do anything more than ensure they are not sitting around. Trampoline/yard @home, local parks, take them to eat - we buy their dinner too, use our vehicles, and if they do go swimming or anywhere they use our card. We've also got them gifts while we were out like a candle or what not around the holidays. One babysitter is 18, the other 19. I know they get paid less from other ppl, so I think we pay alright.

3 kids. 4,2,&1. I gave her 20 up front for pizza and $17.50/an hour.

About college age. Married. Not in college. Works at daycare where kids stay.

Leave daycare where she works with kids, go through pizza drive thru, go to my house and feed them and nothing else. It did entail the aggravation of handling 3 car seats.

Maybe I ought to pay her a few more bucks at daycare. What do you think?

Pics, dammit.

This board has rules, and I guess some folks just feel like they can break them whenever they want. If it weren't for those rules, this place would descend into anarchy. A virtual internet Thunderdome. We don't need that. I like some of y'all.

So post pics.

Yeah, but then I'd be a creep with pics of them in my imgur lol. Wife would whoop me good for that and posting their pics.

So you have them, but they're just not on your imgur account? You sneaky devil.

1. Upload to imgur.

2. Post here for 15 minutes.

3. Remove them from imgur.

It’s up to you. I might pay her $20 an hour but will the extras you are providing - you are not far off.

Wife and I always paid a bit more to make sure we got the priority on the good nights from the sitters. But we did not go out often at all. If I was going out regularly - I would have paid less.
