I’m excited for every season!
I know I’m usually making fun on people on tRant, but let’s cut the crap on all the negativity I’ve been seeing. Yes, it sucks losing, but you know what doesn’t suck?
College damn football.
Every year in the fall we wake up on Saturdays in the greatest country on Earth to watch the greatest game on Earth. We get all our friends and family together to eat, drink, scream, celebrate, and lament over a game that brings us all together, whether we cheer for the same team or not.
And that’s damn beautiful.
Here at on the Gator board, we’re all pulling for the Boys of Old Florida. And yes it’s been rough and it’s easy to be jealous of the Bamas of the world.
But don’t be a bitch.
Sure we can have cognitive dissonance and roll our eyes when someone brings up Ole Butterteeth the Shark Shagger, but acting like a bunch of old biddies about it is sad.
Because at the end of the day, it’s football. So enjoy the ride whatever happens and enjoy the experience that we all miss during the off-season.
Because I’m damn excited for whatever happens this year.
In all kinds of weather.

I am excited for football to be back.
But I am also hesitant thinking that things would look different every year since Tebow has left.

Stop it Box...you are way too young to know and appreciate Florida football. Don't be a damn naysayer dude...you're too good for that. Chin up and be ready for football! We have a loaded roster and we WILL score points.

I was around in the 90s, and I also know am well-versed on what UF was like before that.

Try the 1960s...like 1962. In 1963 we were 6-3-1 and all three losses were shutouts...0-9 against Ga Tech ( a really good team back then ) 0-19 vs AU and Jimmy Sidle, 0-14 against LSU and Billy Ezell (nope not looking at a media guide either...memory) plus a tie with the cowbells. BUT we beat third ranked Bama in Tuscaloosa 10-6 when Dick Kirk ran 40 yds for a TD and btw he also returned a pick to the house in 1964 88 yds and we beat AU 14-0 Spurrier played but it was a defensive battle.
Dick Kirk and others used to play both offense and defense. Allen Trammel was a rb but switched to defense and took a pick to the house against the girls school in 1965.
Spurrier used to punt often...but we also had Hal Seymour, who punted with socks on and no shoes.
Gator fans longed for a SEC title year after year back then and being older I can savor the good times. You haven't experienced a total beatdown by UGA 51-0 in the rain like I have in 1968. But I held my chin up. It didn't change how I felt about the Gators one iota.

Try the 95 Title Game vs. Nebraska.
Or the embarrassment by Zook wasting arguably our most talented team ever in 2002 in the Swamp against Miami 41-16.

Box, you think I didn't watch the huskers bulldoze us with a QB who played HS in Bradenton? You obviously aren't familiar with rosters and what goes into losses or wins.
The Univ of New Jawsey @ Coral Gables was one of the best teams to play college football...they had so many draft picks on their squad. That wasn't Zooks fault. I was in the stands and our talent wasn't elite then. Rex Grossman was a pain in the butt, a partier and didn't want to listen to coaches. He was 5'11" and thought he was 6'5".
The next year we played them in the rental stadium and did well...we had Ingle Martin at QB...a better punter than QB. Chris Leak, the Gatorade National Player of the Year was a true frosh and wasn't close to be ready. He threw a couple of picks as I recall...but until mid 3rd qt we did well. And this is all from memory box.
Truthfully Zook had a roster from 2003-04 full of under classmen. Urban Meyer won the BCS in 2006 with Zooks mostly sr defense.
Now, what else do you wanna know?
