is he expected to make an impact?

Why was he academically ineligible? Claimed he had a 3.8 on Last Chance U.

Yeah, he’s expected to make an impact. He’s our top backup DE, but he’ll definitely play a lot in the rotation. As far as academics, it was never really made public. Something with the transcript though. Same thing with Brian Cole, who will be one of our starting DBs this season.

Some state fans feel he is better than Sweat.

Some reporters are blowing up that narrative and making the fans believe it, but I’ll believe that when I see it. Especially when talking about the SEC sack leader.

Grades were fine, but he was lacking some specific course or some number of credits. Brian Cole from EMCC suffered the same problem. Apparently Ms. Brittney dropped the ball.

I know you aren't asking in good faith, but it's a beastly DE who played for UGA as a frosh but then transferred to EMCC of Last Chance U fame. Would have played a lot last year, but even though he had a 3.8 there was a transcript issue and he was ruled ineligible. He has 2 to play 2.

State will have 3 DE's drafted next April. Sweat, Green, and Rivers. Rivers will be one and done. We have the best group of DE's in the country

Yes he will. He has no intention as of now of coming back- regardless of draft position. He's ready to get paid.

Well NFL teams rarely draft off of one year of productivity (especially as a backup). So he’ll be Josh Robinson and De’Runnya Wilson 2.0 if he decided that. But I’m not sure where you’ve gotten that info.

NFL scouts have watched him practice awhile now. The only reason he isnt starting is because Green and Sweat are damn good too. He really isnt a "back-up"- the other 2 just have game experience. I know a couple of our coaches very well- one is a former player of mine.

I was told that I was insane for saying we may have 5 Defensive Lineman drafted this season. Those 3, Simmons, and possibly Hoyette.

agreed. But we are going to take that title from you in a couple years. We are hauling in the beasts.

All I can remember about him is he was a beast coming out of high school. Was one of the country’s highly rated DEs.

Old Chauncey Rivers - another casualty of the Mary Jane. Heard stories of his campus activities that were legendary. Falling down high and asking students for weed. Old boy loved his devils lettuce. He showed good flashes when he played but spent more time suspended than on the field. Hope he does well for you guys.

Rivers will not leave after this year. Not even thinking about it.
