Fall Camp 2018

Health at the end of August is a must for any team, but Walters keeping his secondary on the field together to they can learn to communicate and see the field through each other's eyes is the biggest key on defense IMO.
Offensively the biggest question is who takes Moore's reps. Brown, Ofodile, and Ballard present a lot of potential as well as a couple of the true FR. Kam Scott backing up Hall at the end of camp wouldn't come as much of a surprise provided he shows he will stick his head in blocking his position.

I'd think Brown would get the first crack. Coaches love him as a leader and example setter. He has the experience. I actually think Ofodile is going to factor in more than most. I know he didn't do anything with Oregon, but he's been getting some pretty good reviews over the summer. Agree that Scott is going to make an impact.
Defensively there are several questions. More than you'd like of course, but it's time for BO to start finding answers. The youth at DE absolutely HAS to step up. Have to have a pass rush. Williams has the ability to be our next great pass rusher, but he's had focus and injury issues his first couple of years. He has to be the guy. Should be pretty good at LB and DT. Those positions are in good shape. As far as the secondary goes, that's the biggest question. I like our corners actually. They are big and athletic and all should improve. Safety is going to be a work in progress. Lots of bodies here but pretty much no proven production. Walters has his work cut out for him with this group.

My biggest questions haded into camp
WR, DE and S
I’m also watching to see what type of role Miller has at LB
Can any of the the young DBs like Petry, Holmes and Mills force their way into the field?
The new redshirt rule also could have a big impact on how the freshmen are developed. I think most if not all will get snaps in at least 3-4 games to see if they are ready.

If there isn’t improvement in the secondary, it is squarely on the coaching in my opinion.
The corners have the size and ability to be better than last year.
Safety- your guess is as good as mine. But if the rest of the D can step up a bit, it might be a position weakness that can be covered up a bit.
If we can get serviceable execution from the secondary and good production from the Dline and LB, it could be a 9 win or possibly better season (so long as the O keeps producing)

Caleb Sampson (DT) is transferring. Not a big surprise.
Ballard may have gotten himself kicked off the team...nice

AJ Harris is also off the roster. He just can’t stay healthy.

Harris has retired.
Danny Gray did not qualify

That is disappointing news about Ballard. He had the physical skill set to be dominant in this league.

Not sure exactly what it is yet, but doesn't sound good.

All that was said was Ballard wasn't at the first practice.

We all knew there would be shake ups in the roster. Need to stay at 85 or less.

Yup, I jumped the gun on that. My bad. Good to hear

But why take him off the roster? I hope it's not a legal issue.

Somebody said that he needs to hit the books harder.

And hopefully he won't hire a certain "tutor" that shall remain nameless
