I think 6+1+2 is perfect. Still leaves three non-conference games. Then, I'd like to see something like eliminating FCS competition. Or, if a team decides to play an FCS opponent, their other two non-conference games must be against P5 teams. I do think if the P5 conferences start eliminating games against FCS opponents you are going to see some of these programs struggle to survive. They depend on those game checks.

I also wouldn't be opposed to eliminating divisions altogether, protecting maybe three or four permanent opponents, then rotating the rest of the league.

I like 6+1+2 as well. Every team plays a P5 ooc. That leaves two practice games. I think the SEC Champ & the 2nd best team (think wildcard) should be in the playoffs yearly.
