WaPo Report on NEA Police

I didn't know about this story before it was picked up nationally. Well-written story worth a read. Anyone here know anything about this?

tl;dr a new Walnut Ridge cop (11 days on the job) tried to make quota by pulling a guy over. Cop got roid rage aggressive, roughed up the guy. Guy made an official complaint. The WRPD exonerated the cop, gave two guy two citations, and later filed suit against guy. Cop given verbal warning. JB Sun and NEA Report kept digging, got some FoIA requests for his body camera, but cover-up and run around given by WRPD, the WR mayor, and the city attorney. Videos come out and vindicate the guy.

I 100% hate cops. That guy being vindicated is no vindication, unless he is paid millions. That POS cop, the entire department, and the mayor go to prison. Where they all get raped.

What's even more infuriating is that this has been going on forever all over the US without anyone getting their comeuppance until recently. When it's citizen's word vs the entire police force and local government, who's gonna win?
One of the few things I actually like about the internet and social media.

I 100% hate that you actually feel this way. We have an extremely great police force where I live, I support them as much as anyone ever has.
We live in a society where Meth has overrun MJ as the key drug, where bath salts is used to get high, where a lady was arrested in my home town sniffing hair spray and lost compete control during the arrest while harming several people because she couldn't even feel pain. Mental illness is at an all time high in society, these guys risk life and limb to protect society overall.
Yeah, there are some terrible police, but they are fewer than the media make them out to be. I pray for them, their decisions, and their safety.

Quite a few cops and quite a few police departments suck arse. Quite a few cops and quite a few police departments are exactly what you want from your police force.
We should hang the bad cops and bad departments out to dry. frick them.
But, we should also praise the good cops and good departments and increase their pay when we can. Thank God for them.
Great police officers are like great teachers. They should be the norm not an outlier.

So, what does our board members think about all of these Law Enforcement Lip Synch videos all over the internet? Public service to build relationships with the communities they serve or a waste of time/taxpayer dollars and they should be out fighting crime? What says the board?

agreed... Get the bad ones... get them gone, support the good ones with pay, community support, better benefits, etc.

Cops in my town are great, and the community seems to love them... although im in one of the flight areas surrounding little rock

also notable that the WaPo is an apologist for the World Fricking Mafia
but they sure love picking on small towns, probably mostly in the south

I have no issues with the ones in my town either. I had a wreck fairly recently and 4 of them showed up. I was a little rattled but they could not have been nicer, calmed me, made me laugh etc. Two thumbs up from this chick.
