There is no way he would survive outside of Bama football. No other school has so many fans that devote their entire lives to just being a fan of a school. Bama fans literally sit around just to call PF and listen to him say what they want to hear.

There aren't enough of those fans at another school to keep him on air.

But if he leave, he won't be missed by anyone but Bama fans.

I think we’ll survive. Finebaum is trash. He’s not a Bama homer despite what everyone says. He’s a wave rider. The minute we start to suck again, he’ll dance on our grave like he did during the Shula era. He made his career off of stirring up Bama & AU fans. While he’s a decent interviewer, he’s not cut out to be the face of the SEC Network. His “this season/game is critical to this coach’s future” take gets old after a while.

This story is 100% a ploy by Finebaum because he’s desperate. I think ESPN has all of the leverage here. It’s not like the SEC Network would lose a significant amount of viewers if he left.

If AU had the success and the fans, they would certainly outstrip Bama. AU has more looneys that any fanbase in the country. Their Finebaum callers when he was in Ala rarely even talked about AU, it's all about Bama. AU's is a derivative program - their entire existence is in reference to Alabama. Bama's success has made some of them crazy, real sickos. Thrower, Green, Scott, et al. - conspiratorial idiots and/or totally delusional regarding Alabama.
