Virginia State Police arrested 1st Lt. Joshua Yabut, 29, on Tuesday after authorities say he fled from police in an M577 Armored Personnel Carrier that was stolen from Fort Pickett. The soldier was apparently taking part in routine training with the Virginia National Guard when he decided to take a little joy ride while allegedly “under the influence of drugs,” the Guard said.

Honestly amazed the thing ran given typical Guard maintenance.

Yeah the C-130s around here obviously aren’t up to speed

Does it get old after a while? How many do you get a day and how many are worth actioning?

I'm, shocked, shocked I say, that drugs were involved in this.

I'm shocked an LT knew how to drive the thing.

Reminds me of this old story. I can understand a lcpl aquiring a jet, a 1st Lt on drugs knows better. Wait a second...no he doesn't

Marine Accused of Taking El Toro Jet on 2 a.m. Joy Ride
July 05, 1986
quote:
A record-breaking young glider pilot, now an enlisted flight mechanic, took an unauthorized pre-dawn joy ride Friday in an $18-million jet fighter based at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, officials said.
He was identified as Lance Cpl. Howard A. Foote Jr., 21, of Los Alamitos. The Marine Corps said he donned a flight suit at 2 a.m. Friday and climbed aboard an unarmed A-4M Skyhawk. He took off from an unlighted
runway, flew about 50 miles and returned to the base half an hour later, officials said. They didn't know which direction he'd headed.
By the time he returned, Lt. Col. Jerry Shelton said, the lights on the runway had been turned on, but it took Foote five passes to land.

Nah it's not a big deal. During football season there are quite a few RAs. Most of the time it's someone melting and taking things a little far. It has to be seriously ridiculous for me to take action on it. I might get 0 RAs one day and 100 the next. It just depends on the day and how upset LSU fans are

But he DID land it.
What do you do in that scenario? I imagine many many safeguards and people failed to do what they were supposed to do to allow for that to even happen. I'm surprised the story even made to the media. Were I the Commander I'd just agree that it never gets talked about again and we act like it never happened.

Shocking, never would have expected that. The Rant REALLY needs an attitude adjustment.
Thank you for all you do Lew.

I hope Lew got my RA on his last post

Don't smack him around too much. If he quits god only knows who we'd get stuck with.

lol, you planning out your 10k thread? You're getting close brother. Wouldn't want to see you pull a CNB.
