I've been to every LSU vs Bama game in Baton Rouge since 2008 and multiple at Bryant Denny in recent years, but wasn't there in 2011. I had YouTube playing old hype videos tonight, and the CBS broadcast of the 2011 game popped on. Was blown away by the intensity in the fist 10 minutes. Obviously the stakes were different, but I was there this past fall and it didn't seem nearly as chaotic. Verne and Gary were slobbering over the talent on the field! Such a classic game.

I was there. Intense, loud. Was in the upper deck in the Endzone where Eric Reid made the interception.

The other Endzone, Alabama student end, OT was played on that side.

Unbelievable day, tailgating, game itself.

Anyone outside of these two fan bases will always say this game was boring. But it was was more intense and serious than any other game I’ve attended. Kind of like tension was never broken. Normally someone will drop a TD and draw first blood and settle everybody in, but there was just some lingering ominous feeling throughout. It was played so tight that every play meant everything. You were just waiting for someone to break a long one for 6 and basically determine the outcome but that never happened.

The Eric Reid pick has to be the play of the game, I thought that was for sure a touchdown when maze released that ball. Think Claiborne jumped a route for an INT on an short out route in this game? TM7 got flagged for throwing Swagpatrick down on a punt return and people were calling him the “holding badger”
Lee got benched for Jefferson after tossing a few picks. I remember Trent Richardson being an absolute monster and that he was only one broken tackle away from busting it on any play.

When Micheal ford scored the TD in overtime we all went ape shite in the upper deck, the girl in front of me turned around and kissed me, only to find out he stepped out of bounds and we then settled for a FG.

Walking out of the stadium was a weird feeling. It was like leaving a funeral. No words were said, even between LSU fans. Outside the stadium was pretty rough though. Only thing worse than losing in Tuscaloosa might be winning. Some people are insane.

That was 6 and 1/2 years ago. Hot damn

I've never seen that many people in Tuscaloosa for a game. Trying to make it from the Quad to Bryant Denny for walk of champions prior to the game was like trying to move through a wall of humanity. There had to be at least 30,000 people outside the stadium once the team finally arrived.

One the best atmospheres for a scrimmage I've ever seen. In some way it even exceeded the atmosphere of the real game a couple months later.

Great question. I have seen some black and white videos of the event... looked exciting.
