I don’t see how mop up duty gives him enough valuable experience to be a difference maker if JF11 goes down with a serious issue. If that happens we just start over with another freshman. The benefits of playing Fields don’t outweigh the potential cost of losing him for a whole year of eligibility IMO.

What I DONT want is to start splitting series as that seems to disrupt the starter more than anything else. Also, trotting out the “running QB” to take a snap and run it is the dumbest play in college football as everyone in the stadium knows what’s going to happen.

Not saying I dont get your position...or necessarily disagree....but I’d love to get two full years out of Fields as a starter if possible. And I don’t see him beating Fromm.

You mean losing his 5th year? Good luck with that.

And mopup under Smart is different than mopup under Richt. We actually throw on 3rd down and try to move the chains. We actually try to score.

How do you know what to practice to improve on your own time if you don't face live bullets and make mistakes during games?
Like I said... they wear red jerseys in practice. It is very comfortable knowing that you won't be touched. Not so much when the defense is crowding the line of scrimmage.

Unless it helps you win a big game, right?
