Midland is in some ways a shithole, but its sister city Odessa is worse. The region is full of oilfield trash, of both the wealthy and poor varieties.
Midland has an oddly impressive skyline for a city its size.

That town isn't depressing. It's just dangerous...and poor. At least 1/4 of the town is drunk at all times.
