At least they aren't Virginia.

21-0 was more painful than what happened to UVA tonight

I'm still more pissed about us hiring Matt fricking Luke as our football coach than UVA fans are about tonight.

For sure.
21-0 may be the most painful thing in all of sports history. LSU fans will never recover.

But that was #1 vs. #2. No shame in losing that game. Pretty sure about that.

Maybe.

Okay, maybe not.

Avoiding the troll , you're correct about that.

LSU and Bama were ranked 1 and 2. LSU went to Tuscaloosa and won in OT. Bama didn't have quite the same schedule LSU did that season, but in shared opponents, they won by similar margins. A loss in a rematch wasn't a shocker; even the final score wasn't terrible (Bama got lots of FGs, they had to work. If LSU had been able to generate any offense it could have been different, because LSU played strong defensively too).

UMBC won the American East Conference tourney, but not the regular season. So we're talking about a team that, if it doesn't win the tourney, not only doesn't make the NCAA, it probably doesn't make the NIT. Vermont won that conference, landed in the NIT as a 6 seed (the benefit of being regular season champs), and lost by 27 to Middle Tennessee.

Sadly, I took some comfort watching that game after a lifetime of disappointments. I feel like a shitty person laughing at the UVA fans. I have a good excuse because Jan 8th still feels like yesterday.

Is that the first #1 to lose to a #16?
