I doubt Smith would be interested in Mizzou, especially if Mizzou gets Ramey. There are easier paths to being a starting PG than Mizzou.

This isn't about Mark Smith, it's about EJ Liddel. Mark Smith transferring from Illinois is huge Mizzou basketball recruiting news because it now puts us in great position to land EJ Liddel next year. We are in a tough recruiting battle for him against Illinois and Smith leaving makes Illinois look less attractive than Mizzou. Liddel might be a 5* by the this time next year. Ramey, Tilmon, Watson, and Liddel. Cuonzo is doing exactly what we hired him to do and he's taking over STL in the recruiting trail.

I certainly think Mark Smith could be an option. I think he'd be a better fit with Martin, but depends on him playing defense better.

He may have faded at Illinois, but look at Barnett at Texas. Smith did better at Illinois than Barnett did at Texas.

Confidence went to shite, lost a lot of minutes and they have a 5 star guard coming in so minutes were going to be tough to earn. He started off hot. His coaches comments, sound like he just wasn't happy. My opinion...He's always been a stud in whatever sport he played, wasn't ready mentally for the work of D1 (remember that's just MY opinion)

For those that have asked me, multiple people in the know told me that Mark Smith's decision to transfer does not impact E.J. Liddell's recruitment. He's a smart kid who isn't going to let something like that change his recruitment. Missouri is still in great shape though.

He's wrong. Of course this effects Liddell's recruitment.

Ayo is better than Smith. Liddell also has a relationship with him, and Ayo will be the starting PG for Illinois.

That's nice. Liddell has been quoted in interviews that Smith was recruiting him harder than Underwood. Of course it has an effect. How much remains to be seen, but to say it has none is foolish.
