That's cool and all, but good luck getting a coach worth a damn to come to a (currently) low-level SEC school after 3 guys in a row have been fired by year 3 because they didn't reach 9 wins. I'm sure Tim Horton would be excited for the opportunity, though
how many good coaches are scared of losing? Good coaches aren't worried about being fired year 3 because they expect to win.

Good coaches are also going to let the profession dictate how they approach negotiations. In a perfect world, we'd pay per win and coaches would earn the money. But buyouts and salaries are only going up and will until the TV deal bubble pops.

If you want to set those expectations on an up-and-comer, then sure. But no established great coach is going to go to a school that says "hey, 9 wins by year 3 or you're fired" over every other school that says "here's $40 million over 7 years and a $10 million buyout".
