Haven’t posted in a while but couldn’t pass this up. I know his family personally and you are way off the mark. Every one of his family members stand beside his decisions, all the way down to leaving MS. Never been a problem kid in meridian. Granted Meridian has some thugs, but this one no. Besides Saban would sit him or send him packing if so.

He's a friggin beast. These stats are insane for a 6'7 300+lb dlineman, only a true sophomore

69 tackles
10 tfl
8.5 sacks
2 additional qb hurries

Good post and thank you for shedding light on Davis buddy. Bama has always thrived on players from Mississippi.

NP, And yea, I don’t blame him from getting away from here. I was all in his ear to come to Ole Miss but that was more of a joke. Never considered us. The best thing for any true athletes is to get away from Meridian and don’t let anyone influence where you go. Heck I didn’t want C.J. Hampton because I knew how his whole surroundings were. Good kid, but needs to learn when not to fire a blunt up. It was like no one could get through to him and show him what he could do if he tried. But as for Davis, his whole family supports what he, not them, wants. Good people.

Yea y’all seem to have the pipeline and we get what’s left. Haven’t followed the team as much this year being busy, but Meridian will usually produce a couple each year.

If you knew Meridian you wouldn’t be laughing. By being in trouble I mean shooting someone or a bunch of other high profile crimes. He is one of the lucky ones to get out of here and not fall into that life. There is not a night that goes by when there’s not at least 4 gun shots being reported. We don’t have the publicity like N.O. but it’s bad. You don’t go shopping after dark bad. Losing businesses left and right. He’s a kid to be proud of and I would hope one day he can come back and talk to these kids about what you can actually do to get out of here and be successful.

I totally believe you buddy I worked on the offshore oil drilling rigs with a dude from the rough part of Meridian and he told me stories about growing up there. This was a devout Christian black dude, good father and husband with a big family. Before meeting him I never would have known Meridian to be a rough dangerous place like that.

He’s one of my favorite players to watch. First noticed him in the A&M game last season.

I said My God, who in the world is that massive but lean d-lineman. Lol

I was offshore for 12 years. Heck it’s all we got lol. And yeah Meridian got rough it seems like over night years ago. I live about 10 minutes out of the city limits. No way I would move me and my daughter inside town. Plus I need my dirt roads ha. And used to we could get along with any black or I should say any opposite race. But it’s not like that anymore and it’s sad. Wasn’t how I was raised and one reason I can walk up inside just about any of their houses and not freak out. And honestly, sometimes it’s the sorry white ones who think they need some kind of “cred” to be cool, and they cause trouble. Around here, if you act like yourself and how you were raised to respect others then you don’t have problems. Until you run up on the youngins who could care less. We have some sorry leaders in office here that doesn’t care about getting to the bottom of problems.

Yeah that was one of the jokes I was talking about TrueReb. I couldn’t look at him without laughing when it would be brought up. I’m like this dude can start in the NFL now on the DL and fml, freeze trying to talk him into OL. I was like this ain’t Liggins you talking to ha.

Another good Meridan player for Bama was DT Kenny Smith.

I said to myself during the NC that 99 dude was going to be the next great one at Bama. Baffling to me how he can be that damn large and still so lean.

I tried to stay in school and nature too. But the leeches pulled me away. What can you do?

Yep, I haven’t been following recruiting close lately but I hope Hyman turns out good for us. He has the heart but needs to bulk up. Not saying he isn’t big, but needs to tone up some and learn SEC speed. We have McCleon who played with the Rams who tries to help kids here, but the downside is most of the kids know that he is affiliated, even though staying out of trouble, just won’t leave those guys alone. Even if he means no harm, we have a ton of different gangs and that alone will keep some kids away if there is beef with his no matter if he is straight or not. A lot of people don’t know that. Same way with Hampton. It’s sad how young they are when they fall into that life and can’t leave it behind. Its ruthless here. They don’t care how much fame or money you have, you’re pretty much in it for life or else. Even extorting these guys. Raekwon was one of the few to not fall in that trap. Haven’t kept up with Zaire Jones at Vandy but he’s a good one. Just had one sign with Troy after going to Scooba Tech. He played at my school, Damion Willis. He has an awesome family. Years ago Ole Miss had Derrick Davis from Meridian. Raekwon’s bloodline. Also Kenyetta Walker many years ago did pretty good with Florida.
