LSU Final AP Rankings since 2012:

2012: #14
2013: #14
2014: NR
2015: #16
2016: #13
2017: #18

Arbitrarily you left out 2011 for LSU (#2) but included it for UT. Still finishing with these ranking is certainly not stellar.... but it is not struggling either. Not even close.

+1

I fail to understand the arbitrary number of yrs he's using to measure each programs success or struggles.

He's got:
UF 5 yrs
LSU 6 yrs
UT 15 yrs
UA 10 yrs
UGA 15 yrs
AU 13 yrs

Because it captures the current snapshot of where each program sits today...

UF 5 yrs

Yes. Florida of the last 5 years is nothing close to the Florida of the Spurrier/Meyers years. It's like two totally different programs at this point. Sure I can include Urban Meyers' national titles by going back a few years, but is that really indicative of where Florida's program sits today?

LSU 6 yrs

Again, the LSU of the Saban / Early Miles years is light years away from where the program sits with Coach O. It's like night and day. LSU looks nowhere close to being able to put up the type of seasons they did in 2001, 2003, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, etc. Those days are long gone. Why include them now if the program is nowhere close to being at that level?

UT 15 yrs

Yes, UT has been horrible for about 15 years. The struggles really got bad about 10 years, but the Vols started looking bad following the '01 season in which they were looking like they were possibly going to play for the National Title the first week of December. Things have obviously changed.

UA 10 yrs

So should I add the Shula years to paint a picture of where the program sits today? Do you think that'd be relevant?

UGA 15 yrs

UGA has been quite consistent every since Mark Richt's 2nd season. There have been some ups/downs... specifically a bit down towards the final years of Richt, but the program really hasn't taken any drastic turns.

Georgia has four Top 5 finishes since 2002 that are all fairly spread out evenly: 2002, 2007, 2012, 2017. Our longest drought of finishing outside the Top 25 has been just 2 years (2015 and 2016), which was answered by playing for the National Title and finishing #2 in 2017.

Again, we've been pretty much in the same state of success since 2002.

Auburn is a very consistent roller coaster ride, specifically since about 2004:

Top 2 finishes in 2004, 2010, 2013
Top 10 finishes in 2004, 2006, 2010, 2013, and 2017

Since 2004, Auburn has never had more than 2 consecutive seasons in which they finished outside the Top 25.

You can pretty much count on Auburn going through their cycle about every 5-6 years: 1 team that wins the SEC and competes for the National Title.... 1 team with a losing season... another team that has a great year and finishes somewhere around #10... and the other two years they are near the back of the Top 25.

It's actually very consistent. It's where their program is today and its where they've been since at least 2004.... honestly probably even since Pat Dye.
