The good from tonight

I'll give BO credit for this. The defense played well tonight. Gave up less than 200 passing and barely 100 rushing. Stupid penalties and the secondary continued to haunt us, but overall, they played well.
Gave up 3 scoring drives. One because of stupid penalties. The other two on short and really short fields that the offense forced them to defend.
Well done for those guys and the way they played.

I think they had 11 or so TFLs.

He is a good DC.
He isn't a good HC. He may have been if he had learned at a mid major. He's not going to learn it in the SEC. He's OK as a place holder until Sterk decides what he's going to do next

Yeah, saw some real effort on defense.

I disagree.....he's not top 15 but BO made strides as a HC from yr 1 to 2. He needs to make more strides next year.

I imagine if Heupel would have stayed for another year this game would have went better and not so much gnashing of teeth. Maybe that caught Odom with his pants down when he thought he was going to have more time with the same OC.
If we do keep progressing I'm not going to be mad. Even if it is only one more win per year, as long as it keeps improving it is tolerable. Of course I'd prefer we win 10+ each year, but if Odom does become great and it takes five or so years to do it here I won't mind because a lot of coaches are likely to leave us when they become great and he is very likely to stay. I also feel Sterk will make sound decisions.
If things keep going at this rate though, 10 wins next year, 13 wins in two years, and NC champ in three years!

I’m afraid that there might not be straight-line progression. We could even take some steps backwards next year with a new OC and new Oline coach.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to be sitting at 5-7 next year at the end of the season.
UT Martin W
Wyoming W?
Purdue Toss up - Lean L
Georgia L
South Carolina L
Alabama L
Memphis Toss Up - Lean W
Kentucky - Toss up Lean L
Florida - L
Vandy - W
Tennessee - Who knows
Arkansas - Who knows
Best case 8-4
Worst case 4-8

I don't think anyone has a clue of what Arkansas will look like next year. Especially the Arkansas fans. One thing we know is that we won't be supremely talented compared to the folks we will face. Right now our recruiting is so bad it makes Missouri look like Nick Saban at Alabama in his prime.
Memphis could be a dangerous team next year. For Missouri it will be just another game, a break in the schedule from SEC play. For Memphis its the biggest game of the year.

If Fisch is the OC and Lock comes back, 10 wins is the best case.
Georgia and Alabama are pretty much automatic losses.
Florida is probably there as well, if Mullen finds his QB for next season.
If Pruitt is a good HC, Mizzou will be fighting with USCe and Kentucky for 4th place in the division most years.

I think you meant to say fighting with Vandy for not last.

No I meant 4th. Mizzou, Kentucky and USCe are pretty similar football schools. All 3 are better than Vandy and worse than Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.

Kentucky and USCe are markedly better at recruiting than us. I would say their coaches are better than ours right now.
We aren’t going to regularly challenge SCar unless something changes. I don’t think Stoops is a good coach, so we may challenge UK some. But probably not.

On another note. I hate to disrespect a kid, but Jmon Moore has the worst hands in P5. I also love how he tapped out with about 90 seconds to play in his last collegiate game. Shows a lot of character or lack of character. Is it Odoms fault that the kid can't catch a cold? Good to know as well that Collins has shite hands too...

Worst hands or worst focus? I think it's the latter

The defense was solid most of the game.
BO proved again he's a good DC.

It looked to me like Walters was calling most of the defensive plays.

Yeah. They came out rough, but they really played well. I think Texas may have ended with a worse third down conversion rate than us.

barry hasn't progressed. His teams are unprepared and undisciplined. They turn the ball over and they have A LOT of stupid penalties. It was that way the first game he coached, in the bowl game last night, and most games in between.
The team improved just from getting older, and we caught some real breaks with the schedule and the east going to shite. Still couldn't beat Purdue, and we could not have beat Purdue last night. Tx was missing half their team. Purdue played earlier and could have and would have beat the horns
Next season we will finish somewhere from 5th to 7th in the east and if we make it to a bowl it will be just barely.
bookmark it
Also, Lock has been told in multiple ways it would be to his advantage to stay next year and he is still trying to find a way out. So we know what he thinks of the situation
