Can we at least agree that our inability to lock down in state kids is troubling?

Ford and Hill are the primary instate recruiters. Who would you recommend they be replaced with? The bulk of this year's talent was in Ford's area.

It is troubling! The thing that bothers me most about it, that it seems like some of the players weren’t even pursued very hard. I realize that if a kid says he doesn’t want to come to Mizzou, the coaches don’t waste much time on them, but in the early going, I would be working on these guys all the time to try and convince them to come to Mizzou. Seems like we give up pretty easy. But, I also understand that we aren’t a blueblood, and some of these guys want to go there instead of Mizzou.
We need to work harder on these guys till they run us out of the house!

When Missouri hosted all 10 highly touted in-state prospects in the spring, many thought the program would be able to have a highly ranked class without having to leave Interstate 70. Well, that didn’t happen. The Tigers appeared to lose interest in some of those prospects and others dropped out during the 1-5 start. Blue Springs defensive end Daniel Parker Jr. is currently the lone member of the “Tiger 10” to sign. The Tigers made a late run for St. Louis defensive end Ronnie Perkins, the brother of Missouri safety Ronnell Perkins, but he stuck with Oklahoma. Missouri could still add another defensive lineman out of St. Louis in Michael Thompson, but he isn’t expected to announce until February. Missouri is considered the favorite for Thompson’s services.

People who can sell the only P5 program in the state of Missouri to the top Missouri high school recruits as well as make inroads into our new conference territory.

Doesn't matter who we miss. It's all about who we get. Trust me. I'd rather have a 4* and a 2* than two 4* kids. If you take enough 2* kids, there is bound to be a diamond in the rough.

Hill does a solid job with his position group but Ford was retained primarily because of his relationships in STL not because he was a great CB coach.
Since moving to the SEC, there have been 13 4* rated players in STL and Ford managed to land two. Neither contributed on any level (Abbington and Bauer).
If you want change, that would be the place to start IMO. The question remains, who do you replace him with?

Replacing Hill with Will Franklin someday would probably help STL recruiting.

Ford has been the rb coach and the wrs still have a problem with too many dropped passes.

And to draw a point of distinction, neither of those are really St Louis kids. They were West County kids which is an altogether different animal.

I figured Cross would help, but he seemed to hurt STL recruiting.
BO needs to find an assistant that held in similar esteem that Cuonzo is there.

The more I think on it, perhaps moving Franklin to recruiting coordinator to allow him to learn the business and moving Ofodile to a coaching assistant position would be a better answer. I have heard multiple people say that AJ would be an outstanding addition as a recruiter.

Of the 7 instate recruits we lost this year they were lost to Ohio St (2), Texas, Oklahoma, USC, TBD (probably Miami), TBD (probably LSU or Georgia)
What's the pitch to get kids to come to Mizzou instead of those schools? We'd have to assume the state loyalty, close to home, build your own legacy pitches are being used. What else is there? I'm seriously asking. It would seem that when competing with those schools for kids it's going to be a very uphill battle and the results certainly bear that out. The occasional kid may grow up a fan, or have family reasons for staying close to home but it's awfully hard to get the stars out of these kids eyes when they go see the trophy rooms, the large FULL stadiums, the top notch facilities and hear these schools get all the pub from the media.
The question is, how do we get around all of that on a more consistent basis? My answer is I've got no fricking clue and the truer answer (even though no one wants to hear it) is you probably can't. If anyone has a better one I am truly interested in hearing it.
