Missouri and Barry Odom have agreed on a two-year contract extension. Financial terms of his original contract remain the same.

Odom gets one new contract incentive: if ticket revenue from home games exceeds $11.7M, Odom will receive an amount equal to 20% of that amount.

Seems reasonable.

If we have a big year next year then they can always extend him again.

He's the lowest paid coach in the SEC.

I’m more interested to see what this does for the assistants salary pool.

We’re just shuffling people around in the program. We don’t really need any assistant money.

Mizzou ranked 21st among college football programs in assistants salaries last season.

Mizzou has the resources to pay the assistants.

We do. And we are. They don’t need more if Jim Bob Cooper is just getting moved up. The assistant pool is designed to attract top end talent. Not hype up the GAs who hit the lottery.

Even if that top end talent is currently a GA, or an analyst?

Right most read this the previous times you posted it.

That won't be needed for holdovers rebrands and graduate assistants being bumped up to fill holes.

Rookies deserve base pay. Nothing more

Lol. But it’s not. Heupel was a known quantity. I had no problem with a really nice salary for him. Elarbee was a quantity. The guys we’re plugging in are JAGs.

"Jim Bob Cooper" Edgy and hip and shows how much you don't care about Odom's choices. I like it . Joe Jon Finley coaches a position group that's been pretty good for us this year. The reason they get so open on those seam routes is because of their ability to get of defensive ends and linebackers which requires technique. Jon Cooper and Joe Jon both played in the league. There are probably worst choices out there.

Most realize this.

However spin and overselling has to be expected at this point.

We don’t have access to know if a guy like Finley can be a really good OC or not. We have to rely on BO and Sterk to make that evaluation.

Based on who BO hired 2 years ago and their success, I’m willing to let him make his evaluation again.

If they think Finley and Cooper are the best for the job, then I will support it. If they think someone from the outside will do better, then I will support that.

I’m sure there are. But we don’t need to pay Heupel money to get Joe Jon Finley. Everyone knows this. The people who have to argue with me will still dispute this.

I don’t think anyone thinks that Finley will get paid the same as Huepel if he’s named OC.

If Finley gets the job it’s not because Mizzou was cheap, it’s because BO thinks he’s the best guy for the job and that Sterk supports that decision.

I agree with that. The Jim Bob Cooper comment is just eye roll worthy imo. He's done well for us up until now. No reason to disparage him.

Bass is just going to bitch about everything Odom does.

So it goes.

Yup. But he’s rolling the dice without cover by hiring “no names.” He probably won’t survive another start like 2017.

W's and L's. That's it. If it's Finley, Heupel, or whoever. Odom will be responsible for the decisions and will either reap benefits or be fired.
