I love the argument of “they should know their place” or “historically that’s about where they’ve been, why should they expect better?”

It’s like nobody is allowed to try to make their football team better and win a national championship. Let’s just all sit around and let Bama, Ohio st, and Clemson play for it every year and the rest of us do nothing.

I think it's more like the thought process that they're paying big money now and expecting solid results for that. They don't want the QB recruiting fiascos that have been taking place that to me have been leading to the late season swoons over these last few seasons. That falls on the head coach because somewhere along the way, he is allowing there to be miscommunication of standards and the way he expects things to be (or not...and guys are getting here and realizing he's not what he presents on the recruiting trail). Either way, you don't want that guy with wishy washy leadership skills over your program.
